Guidelines to Maintain the Length of Resume

Your resume is the marketing tool to sell a brand called you. Imagine if you have to judge a person in thirty seconds after reading an autobiography of that person. Is it not next to impossible? So this is the reason why your resumes get rejected because if not the judgment, interviewers always have an option of rejection. It is fundamental to keep your resume length to the expected extent. Go through these guidelines to maintain the length of resume and get your resume short-listed for the next round of interview.

Appropriate Details
Have you ever thought of what makes you write so much about yourself while drafting a resume? It is because you are so engrossed in yourself, that you tend to forget you are writing a professional piece of document, besides you think adding this point would be good, adding another point would be helpful and the list continues. But this doesn't work at all. Writing more about self creates shallow impression. Before you could impress the reader, your resume is trashed and your talent, sincerity, skills, everything is ignored. Therefore, always try to write little and talk more about yourself.

Construction of Sentence
While framing a sentence, many people forget to end the sentence and go as per the flow of their thought. However, your sentence formation has to be kept short. Short sentences are easy to read and remember. If you write your details in passage, it becomes boring to go through and your resume appears tedious at first glance. Hence make sure, you do not stretch the sentences to elongated ones.

Font Size
If you are not using the standard font Times New Roman with size twelve, then you are likely to increase the resume length. This is because, the font styles are different with varying sizes. Some fancy fonts are comparatively huge and occupy more space. Thus, it is always recommended to use a standard font and size which is easily readable and maintains the length of a resume. However, if you still wish to use some other fancy fonts, you can always use them for headings and titles.

You're Hobby
Writing about your interests or hobbies is completely your choice. Hobbies are something that reveal the real you, out of office. It shows your passion for something special that you like to do on regular basis or are fond of. Generally, you can avoid including them in your resume to cut the resume length. However, if you are a fresher, you can always choose to write about your hobbies as there is not much to write if compared with an experienced person, as the individual has to decide whether to add or not.

Resume Length as Per the Role
Resume length can vary depending on the role you are applying for and even on the basis of the experience you carry. Below are ideal recommendations:
