About Aerospace and Defense Field

According to the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA) report, more than 600,000 candidates were employed in the aerospace industry until 2008. Out of which around 65 percent jobs are in aircraft and parts manufacturing. This industry has more than average employees with advanced degrees in subjects like mechanical and electrical engineering.

The aerospace and defense firm recruits young candidates, as 1/4 of their workforce will retire by 2010. In order to attract people to work in their firms, many companies lure aspirants with various promises. To attract talented people, Boeing offered job seekers an i-Pod and a Facebook sponsorship for former interns. Rolls Royce's engine department has introduced crash course management programs to encourage newly hired employees into management positions after some work experience.

You can confirm an interview electronically. What is next? According to the report, the interview includes different behavioral questions. They include questions such as how do you react to a specific situation? Can you work in a group? The other questions asked are to test your expertise. There is a minimum of one or maximum of three interviews.

Another frequent question relates to the candidate's eligibility for a security clearance, a necessary attribute for working in many defense fields. Only U.S. citizens are given security clearances, after submitting a detailed report of their background.

In the future, the aerospace as well as the defense sector are bound to grow. Passenger air traffic is expected to grow by about 5 percent per annum in 2027. Number of passengers will increase to 9 billion. However, growth may be suppressed due to rising prices and recession.
