A meeting planner is responsible for success or failure of an event. He/she examines whether the objects of a meeting are achieved. Once the objectives are set, planners endeavor to measure event success. The work of a meeting planner may be considered as either energizing or stressful. Meeting planners supervise various operations at one time, organize various activities of different groups, and face numerous deadlines. Meeting planners spend most of their time in offices equipped with all facilities. However, they need to work on site during meetings. They also need to work at convention centers or any other meeting locations. Sometimes, they need to travel to participate in meetings and visit future meeting locations.

The extent of travel is based upon the type of firm. Regional and local firms need regional travel, however, national and international firms require travel to distant locales comprising of overseas travel. Work hours for meeting planners can be irregular and long. Generally, meeting planners work over 40 hours a week. At times, planners may need to work until midnight. They sometimes; need to work on weekends as well.

A meeting planner needs to have good health; capacity of walking long distances and standing for a long time. Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, supplies or exhibits. Meeting planners work with public and workers from varied backgrounds. These planners may get to travel to deluxe hotels and exciting places. They get to meet attendees and speakers from across the world. They experience high level of sovereignty.
