Advocacy Organizations Careers

For students who are much fascinated in a reason than a particular political program, or for those who wish to extend their Washington, DC experience beyond the Capitol Hill, almost each association and each reason is symbolized in some appearance or another within the country's capital. Some of these are big associations that provide internships for many students.

However, such internships will differ from one association to another. Few will be fine structured, others may be less structured; some will propose salary or stipends, and some won't; some will be small in size while others will be bigger and more practical.

Several sponsorship organizations are officially independent. Below are few samples of different sorts of advocacy associations and ideological leanings which offer good career opportunities.

American Heart Association has its headquarters in Dallas, however like many other organization it retains an advocacy office in Washington, D.C. for better research funding and to encourage legislation that promotes healthy lifestyles, such as anti-tobacco measures. AARP:

AARP is the leading seniors association that contributes heavily in the national capital. It is involved and makes its presence felt in numerous issues like medicare, social security, and health care issues. It is a modest organization.

Citizens for a Sound Economy:

CSE protests for less governance, fewer taxes and regulations. It hires and educates activists across the nation to sway the economic program on the various levels. CSE is a conservative organization.

National Resources Defense Council:

The NRDC is in the favor of environment preservation and involves in advocacy on various matters including global warming, nuclear waste and many more. It is treated as a liberal organization.

National Rifle Association:

The National Rifle Association offers various services to gun holders and is a renowned legislative activist in the nation's capital. The NRA resists legislation that legalizes gun ownership and supports candidates who are with them on gun issues. This is a conservative organization.

Common Cause:

Common Cause is a powerful advocate of campaign funding transformation and is aggressively involved in decreasing the total money that is spent in the political process. It is regarded as a moderate organization.
