Career in Radio

Radio was the first medium used to deliver the live news. It was extensively used in the Second World War. Radio is the least expensive medium and has maximum reach to the people among all the existing mediums. It has several advantages over newspaper.

Live news coverage, great speed, short but meaningful sentences and accessibility are some distinctive features of Radio.

Radio news is a great effort of a team in which main job of an editor is to gather and edit the news. There is no picture that is why editor plots a story so that it would be ease for listeners to visualize the complete scenario.

One can have number of opportunities in radio as a announcer, reporter, sub editor, station manager and radio jockey. Radio can be classify in 4 different types e.g. community, regional, national and international radio.

Announcer conducts the interview on the radio because of the fact there is no visualization. First it was a threat for the newspaper but now new market is overtaken by the television.

To get start in the radio journalism one can choose desk assistant who helps to research, write copies and arrange the interviews. Though it has some technical disadvantages it is the most popular form of medium among middle and poor classes.
