This television industry is arranged differently from the movie business. Television is occupied with sales and marketing positions as money is made on advertising. If a program becomes popular, it can make more money when converted into movie or sold into syndication.

Development:
Development process in television industry goes on parallel line that of movie. Scripts are sorted in order to find a promising script. Television development is categorized in various types including dramas, sitcoms, miniseries, specials, reality shows and daytime. Production companies or writers present their ideas to network executives. If executive is interested in script the green signals given to pilot of the show.

Production:
Generally in television production there are short production cycles. So television studios are fully prepared sound stages where TV shows are being shot, edited and also final cuts are put into post-production.

Programming:
After telecast of the show, its performance is monitored carefully. Programming executives checks Nielsen ratings and direct the concern persons in order to make show more appealing to the audiences.

Network affiliates:
Since the ad revenues come in the picture at the national level, the most of the network is having network affiliates all over the nation who sell local advertising. Along with ad sales, network affiliates also handle content creation mainly for local news production.
