People who get paid to play sports are professional athletes. To have a career as athlete you should have the drive and dedication towards the sports you are interested in. If you don't have these qualities it will be hard to pull yourself to training on a day where you don't feel like waking up early in the morning. Basically you have to live, eat and breathe it and of course, you need to have the three qualities drive, determination and dedication.

To have a career as athlete you have to get the exposure by playing in school teams, athlete clubs, and leagues and at sports camps. It's just as the entertainment industry if you have the talent you will reach the top and you will survive.

Qualifications Required
In many sports, like football, cricket or basketball, a college education is insignificant since it is the skill of the sportsperson that is required to be exhibited in front of the audience. A professional athlete is first noticed by a scout send by the sports governing body to any school or colleges to watch them play. Many professional athletes retire from their game when they are fairly young and hence a college education can help to choose any other career if they want.
