Opportunities in Transportation Services

In the latest report on the transportation and logistics business, the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) predicted that no o jobs in the industry will increase by 11.9 percent during 2004 and 2014.

However, it is less as compared to overall growth in the industry which will grow at 14.8 percent. Most of the transport services careers were seized by truck drivers. As technology advances, miles per gallon have increased miles per gallon. Also infrastructure and many factors also grow within the industry

Transportation services industry has recently faced many problems. In 2007, transportation services industry has to deal with two big problems. These problems are associated with fuel consumption. One of the problems is ever increasing prices of oil. In 2008, prices of oil touched $100 per barrel and stayed at that level throughout the year. The second problem is of course regarding the environment conservation. It is mostly related with emission of CO2 and global warming.

Transportation services industry is one of the leading user of the gas and thus it is also leading producer of CO2. The transportation services industry is facing both problems and under significant pressure to find solutions to these problems. Most of the transportation companies have started taking efforts to in order to tackle this problem They are using fuel-efficient machinery and energy-pro infrastructure. Using greening business practices have high initial costs, however it is quite efficient in long terms.

Overall positioning of the industry in the market is something of a mixed nature. There will be slower employment growth as compared with other industries. The industry also has to deal with uncertain economic environment and against continued globalization. However, many companies are expanding to take advantage of developing markets in order to keep their balance sheets. With such uncertain conditions, transportation services is moving along and providing careers.
