Duties and Responsibilities of a Pediatrician

Treating the small children with medication or any other way which is required
Counseling the small children regarding the treatment
Some treatments are painful and children have a low threshold for pain. The best example is of injections children do not like injections , but still they are important, and it is the job of the pediatrician to administer the injection
Educate the parents regarding the diets, allergies if any, hygiene for the child and exercises
If the child suffers from special disease, the doctor has to educate the parents about the disease, if the disease is fatal, they have to mentally prepare the parents and if the disease is treatable, they have to tell the parents about the treatment.
Maintaining a record on each patient they treat
Seeing the patient on a regular basis; they have to keep a record on their physical and mental growth
Recognizing and informing the parents about any mental disorders they see in the children like autism and dyslexia
Administer medications and vaccines, and give treatment. If the treatment is unconventional, guide the parents regarding the treatment

Education Required for a Pediatrician

Fist a bachelor's degree and them they have to obtain a degree in medicine and specialize in pediatrics
Complete all the courses required for pediatrics
Obtain a license from the state from where they plan on practicing

Career Advancement

If they are practicing privately, doctor is the highest post they can get. However, if they are working in a large hospital, they can get promoted to the post of head of the department or even become chief of medicine.
