When you think about mining, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Hard work, dust, dirt, darkness? Well, you're right. Mining is one of the most important jobs and at the same time, one of the hardest. Mining is all about finding, digging, sorting and excavating the valuable minerals and resources from the earth. The fact that these minerals are so important and in demand for today's society means that the industry of mining is worthy.
Explorers
Explorers are the persons that practically build the mines. Explorers are a group of geologists that study the earths' surfaces and subterranean grounds in order to find new deposits of minerals. These explorers must use a variety of instruments such as seismographs and other scientific equipment. In this way, they can find natural resources only by applying certain procedures. When they find the deposit they drill and get some samples, so that they can confirm the location and the mineral underneath.
Mine Designers
Once the explorers found the location, the mine designers take their turn. They are called mine designers because they design the future mine. The team of designers includes engineers and technicians. If the location and the deposit of minerals are alright, they start by drawing up plans for the mine. Of course, the team has to take into account the most important aspect of the project and that is how to extract the minerals without harming the environment. Moreover, before starting the project, the team makes sure that the future mine will respect the government laws.
Electricians and Mechanics
Electricians keep the mine illuminated and powered. They have to make sure that all the electrical systems work properly and fix whatever problem might occur. As for the mechanics, they are in charge of keeping all the machinery in good shape. They work in mines and check every detail of the equipment, so that everything can work at maximum capacity.
Mine Safety Workers
It's crystal clear that these people make sure that those who are working in the mine are safe and healthy. There are laws that are to be followed and it's the safety inspector's job to ensure that every little detail is according to the government regulations. The mine safety workers are entitled to shut down the whole mine if anything goes wrong.
Miners
Last but not least, the most important employees in the mine hierarchy are the miners. They do the hard work and they are always exposed to dangerous situations. They constantly work with drilling machines and explosives. Some are in charge of loading the machines, so that the rocks are carried to the surface to be refined.
All in all, mining is a serious business and if you don't have the necessary skills for this one, you will be not able to face it. Mining is a difficult job and remember that your life is in danger all the time. Be sure before deciding to get a job in the mining field.
