The salaries are also good, so all the hard work will be financially rewarded. Especially in a aristocratic city like London, there are many VIP's and companies that need protection, so the requirements may be higher than in smaller cities.
Looking at job advertisements, we will see that the company clearly states long, night shifts and working weekends, so be prepared for long time away from your family if you have any. This job was an indoors one, and the lucky employee had to make sure all the doors of the building are closed and locked when the building was closed. Another advertisement says that the ideal candidate must be at least 18 years old, that he should possess a full valid SIA license (which allows him to work as a security guard in London) at least some years of previous working experience and a driver's license. As you can see, different British employers might have different requirements.
