UAE Jobs

Once upon a time, people all over the world used to dream that the United States of America is a fairy tale land where money grows at every corner of the street and where life is peachy. But things have changed and more and more people, including Americans, tend to believe that United Arab Emirates have turned into a fairy tale land. It is believed that there is a lot of money to earn and there are more job possibilities available there. This is why more and more persons are interested in finding a job in UAE.

General Rules

One should know that in order to work in UAE, there are some simple things to take into consideration: a residential permit is mandatory to allow you to apply for a labor card. Only with this labor card will you be able to start looking for employment. And it is generally obtained if someone living there is willing to sponsor you, legally, so we are talking about a relative already established there or about the company interested in hiring you. So you basically need to get there, find yourself a job and then obtain that permit, also known as visa, in maximum 30 days. But this would be the job of your employer to solve your legal situation and take care of all the formalities. And keep in mind that the ministry of labor from the United Arab Emirates disposed the rule that one can not change his or her workplace for another company if the permission from the present employer hasn't been given. Also, the visa has to be reprocessed correctly by the next employer which might take time.

Nationality & Appearance

UAE is like another world indeed. Unfortunately, your origins directly influence your salary. Indians are more likely to be disadvantaged in favor of the Americans. When sending a CV, you will be asked to attach a photo too and you might be surprised, when coming to an interview, to discover that you will be paid more or less according with your looks. It would probably help you to be familiarized with the most important traditions that the Muslim society practices so you won't make any mistake while interacting with some Muslims which, by the way, are considered to be very keen on their culture and you don't know what to expect from such situations.

Incomes

Their currency is the DHS and to give you an idea of how much it values, 30 DHS are the equivalent of 8 dollars. In their work market, a minimum wage is not established and this is why employers just pay according to the requirements they have, the number of working hours and the educational background of the employee. So comes that an unskilled worker usually gets about 30 DHS for a working day, which is between 8 and 12 hours. Those who are really skilled and have an experience will benefit from fixed working hours as well as a fixed salary which will be given at the beginning of every month. These are the persons to earn between 550 and 1.100 dollars a month, 2.000 and 4.000 DHS. As a general rule, in UAE no one hires and gives salaries per hour and neither do they accord wages weekly.

Pay attention when establishing your working schedule, as it's better to have a fixed one because you will be spending a lot of time, even more than 2 hours, in traffic and if you have a segmented program you won't have time for anything else but work.
