Air Force Recommendation Letter

Home > Letter of Recommendation > Air Force Recommendation Letter

Promotions and commendations are a part of all professions including the air force and the air force recommendation letter is used for promotion recommendations. Promotions and commendations are given to deserving employees as a way of recognizing their effort and even giving them motivation to perform better. This is the norm in the air force as well. The air force is responsible for protecting the skies and sovereign airspace of a country. To do this, they make use of fighter jets, fighter helicopters and other such aircrafts.

Since the air force is responsible for defense, they are federally funded by the government. They function like an organization. Therefore, recommendations exist in them too. These letters are used by senior personnel to make recommendations about juniors for promotion or awards. This letter is an official document and therefore, it has to be well written as it is filed away and becomes a permanent part of the personnel file.

Below are two air force recommendation letters. Both the letters are regarding promotions of junior officers.

To
Hugh Manning
Senior Master Sergeant
Eagle Fleet
Camp Wayne

Dear SMSgt Manning,

I have been reviewing the performance of Airman Joshua Black over a period of two months and I recommend that he be promoted to the position of Airman First Class. He has excellent flight skills and is one our fleet's most decorated pilots. I am confident that he will perform well in this position.

Mr. Manning has been with our fleet ever since he was a trainee pilot. He was also stationed in Iraq during the second Gulf War and received a Medal of Honor for the exceptional work he did over there. He hundred percent successful mission rate and has never had problems with his F22 fighter jet. He is also adept at piloting other planes and has also been stationed to pilot a Black Hawk chopper.

He is well appraised by his peers and juniors alike. The plane engineers have also rated him highly after reviewing the condition of the planes after each flight. Mr. Manning is one of best pilots I have seen and has a great love for the country and job. Therefore, I strongly recommend that he receive a promotion.

We can discuss this decision further. Call me on my extension number or I can even meet with you if you would prefer that. Thank you.

Sincere regards,

MSgt Howard Fury

Second Sample of Air Force Recommendation Letter

From
Charles Coyer
Senior Master Sergeant
50th Fleet
Camp Hoover
6362, Niche Road
Fort Lauderdale, California, USA

To
Reginald Jones
Chief Master Sergeant
50th Fleet
Camp Hoover

Dear CMSgt Jones,

In this letter, I recommend Staff Sergeant James Earl to be promoted to the position of Technical Sergeant. He has shown consistent performance in his current position and therefore, I am confident that he will do well as a Technical Sergeant.

SSgt Earl has sound knowledge on all the technicalities of the planes that are currently a part of our fleet. He works closely with all the engineers and has been providing training to all the junior sergeants on the handling of all the aircrafts. He handles all the junior staff really well and everyone has only positive things to say about him.

SSgt Earl is an excellent pilot, a quality that helped them rise through the ranks quickly. He always accompanies all the new pilots in their mission and teaches them well through using his vast experience. He manages all the staff in the camp really well. Therefore, it is time that he be given more responsibility as I am sure that he will be up to the task.

I would be happy to discuss about SSgt Earl in person. Call me on the extension number and I will make myself available to you. Thank you.

Sincere regards,

SMSgt Charles Coyer

The air force recommendation letter is most of the time written by a junior officer to his senior. Most of the time, the air force has a set format in which this letter is written but the format differs in each fleet. Therefore, these two simple formats given above are viable for use.
