A sports agent is a person who works for the publicity of an athlete or products related to that athlete to advance the athlete's career within his or her specific sport. That means a sport agent have to work with managers, coaches, team owners, and other individuals to help the athlete that they represent.

Much of the time of a sport agent spends in talking and networking with other sport professionals and in keeping information about current trends, which can affect decisions that the agent suggests to the athlete.
In the individual sports a sports agent acts as a negotiator to negotiate contracts that are best interest of the athlete. Also they suggest the athlete as which one is the best option for him or her or which are the best choices for the long term benefits.
