Cost analyst may support the areas of cost accounting, cost analysis and cost optimizing for cost accounting group. The applicant for this position must be having activity based costing, cost analysis, standard costs, unit costing and cost accounting for manufacturing operations. They perform estimation of life cycle cost, business case analysis and trade studies. He or she is also responsible for helping with analysis of alternatives for clients. They are also responsible undertaking cost budgeting, financial planning, analysis, forecasting etc. They may work with external auditors and make sure about the cost accounting and reporting.

The clients for cost analysis include civil, national security government agencies, defense and large programs. Cost analysis may advice, review, contract performance analysis, conduct cost and schedule as needed. Provide variance and risk analysis. Do other duties as assigned.
