Legislative assistant are responsible for helping legislator in preparation of proposed legislator. They are responsible for managing research into subject of proposed legislation. He or she develops preliminary draft of bill. Legislative assistant analyses pending legislation and are responsible for suggesting to legislator action that to be taken. They prepare reports of proceedings and attend committee meetings. They are also responsible for communicating with lobbyists, members of press and constituents to gather and provide information for legislator.

Legislative assistant maintains liaison with government agencies. They help in campaign activities and drafts speeches for legislator. Responsible for other duties as assigned.
