Many people don't know what a customs broker is and what they do. Custom brokers are not the employees of government, although in some countries customs brokers are also considered as customs agents. A customs broker is a person who possesses a highest professional degree recognized by the transportation industry and earns a very respectable income.
In the profession of customs brokerage, a broker's main task is clearing of goods through customs barriers for exporters and importers. This process include several tasks such as preparation of documents or electronic submissions, calculation generally the calculation of payment on the behalf of the client of duties, taxes and excises and facilitating communication between governmental authorities and the importer or exporter.

Customs brokers can be employed by or affiliated with freight forwarders in an independent business or may be employed by exporters, importers, shipping lines, customs broking firms and trade authorities.
