There are lots of formalities in importing and exporting goods and commodities. Each country has specific laws in sending and receiving merchandise to and from foreign countries. These merchandises are usually sent by air or through water. Since a great deal of inspection and restriction are involved in the process, shipping companies hire customs brokers. These brokers serve as a link between importer, exporter and the government agencies. They may hold expertise in clothing, food, or may work to authorize or approve the list of contents and number of crew in a cargo ship.
