Day care assistant are responsible for look after young children and work under the direction of day care supervisor. They help day care supervisor in planning and supervising activities that help to promote the physical, mental, emotional and social development of children. Day cares and other staff keep the children busy, safe and happy. The daily activities include stories, songs, naps, crafts, games, playtimes, snacks and many more depending on the ages of children. They communicate and help students about appropriate activities applied by the supervisor.
Day care assistant does various other duties including rest and lunch and rest periods, helping children who need help with eating, dressing, taking care of day care equipment and other house keeping duties. They submit written observations on children to day care supervisor and staff meetings to discuss problems and progress of children. Responsible for other duties as assigned.
