Law clerk is responsible for overall management. Law clerk assists judges or lawyers by preparing and researching legal orders and by proofreading judge's order and opinion. They prepare wills court reports, real estate transactions and other documents. They make research on court files, records and other legal documents. General office and clerical duties are also done by law clerk. They take signatures of witness on documents. They may arrange probates and administer the estates of deceased persons.
Law clerks also give advice to clients on intellectual property matters. They can advice on trademark licensing requirements, protection of existing trademark rights, complaint registration of trademarks and transfer of intellectual property. They can represent clients in small claims court and in other lower court at tribunals and before administrative bodies. They take legal action on landlord and tenant matters, name changes and traffic violations after advising clients.
