An athletic director is responsible for direction of various educational programs, which are to be held outside the school such as commercial businesses and correctional facilities. Athletic direction is very important that gives the success to the institute by setting educational standards, polices and goals. They are also responsible for the supervising managers, support teachers, staff, librarians, counselors and coaches. Other duties of athletic director include to train and motivate children, create academic programs, monitor student progress, preparing excellent records, prepare budgets, meet with parents and many more related to athletic director. All this work depends on the size of academic programs. If the organization is large then they divide their work with other workers.

Athletic director duties are very demanding and fast paced but sometimes very stressful. Organization of visiting team's needs like lodging, meals, gymnasium services, towels etc is also done by them. They are responsible for supervising tickets sales and fund raising events of the athletic program. One of the most important works of athletic director is to supervise or develop rules and regulations that are responsible for leading the conduct of the athletic activities.
