Escrow officers are loan officers hired by banks and financial institutions to ascertain capabilities of individuals and businesses in returning loan. Their role is to check if the applicants qualify for a loans. To do the job, they meet applicants, collect necessary documents in order to grasp detailed information on their assets, liabilities, income, expenditure, and credit rating. Once they are confident about the applicants qualifying for a loan, they then present types of loans that could fulfill their needs. They work with custom-made underwriting software to determine applicants qualifications. They also hold the power to approve and deny the loan.

Good analytical, investigation, and decision-making skills are must for the job. The escrow officers must also be good in calculating interest, determining EMI, and interpreting complex financial data.
