There are various types of plant operators. Wastewater treatment plant operator is responsible for purification of wastewater. They are responsible for removing harmful organisms, toxic chemicals and solid wastes from domestic and industrial wastewater. After that they return this water to the rivers and oceans. Their duties vary with the size and type of plant. One operator is sufficient for smaller plants to perform all tasks. While, for large plants, there is need of several operators and everyone is specialized in one process and is responsible for working with engineers, chemists and other technicians. First they read and interpret meters and gauges that check the purification process and operation.
This information is very helpful to control the pumps, generators and valves that move the waste water through dispose and the treatment processes of waste materials. They are also responsible for collecting, water samples. They operate chemical feeding devices and achieve laboratory tests. They are also responsible for the minor repairs on equipment. Now, they also use computers to check and regulate processes.
