The work of maintenance supervisor includes immediate supervision and the performance of skilled trade work of building maintenance crew. The supervisor is accountable for the appropriate maintenance, painting, repair, cooling and heating of the City buildings. All these responsibilities are performed under general supervision. And this supervision is done by maintenance supervisor. The person performing supervision has to take initiative in developing work plans and implementing an effective maintenance program.
The building maintenance supervisor needs to have considerable knowledge of residential and commercial carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical trades and plumbing as well as knowledge of practices, methods, material, tools used in building maintenance and service. The maintenance supervisor is able to create and maintain effective working relationships with subordinate employees. The main requirement for the maintenance supervisor of building is the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
