A furniture delivery driver has similar duties to the job description of many other delivery jobs like supply and package delivery drivers. What makes the difference between these jobs is the type of merchandise. A furniture delivery driver usually transports furniture from a warehouse to a customer's residence with a company truck. His/her job includes some heavy lifting because s/he is in charge of loading and unloading the furniture and when there are heavy items, drivers may work with assistants or there could be two drivers that work together, splitting the day driving in shifts. The applicant for this job must have physical strength and the capability to lift furniture.
In order to obtain a delivery driver job, a high school diploma is enough to work as food, flowers, and newspaper delivery driver, but freight companies expect the applicants to have a specific course related to transportation fields. A clean driving background and a good physical health is another requirement of most of the employers.
