Is Writing Your Weaknesses in Resume is Right or Wrong?

What does weakness mean? Weakness is a drawback, defect or a weak point of a person. It is the quality or state of being weak which can also be defined as lack of strength. There can be different weaknesses like being shy, impatient, arrogant, blunt, fearful etc. However, these are not the ones to be disclosed straightly. You have to be very tricky while revealing your weaknesses. Every individual has its own sad part to improve on so relax! You are not the chosen one. But you can choose on improving your flaws.

What are your weaknesses?
No one knows you better than yourself. All you have to do is list down your weaknesses, and categorize them in the ones that affect you badly and the ones which don't influence you much. For example, if you compare shy with being undisciplined, which one you think would have a higher negative impact? Though both are weaknesses, you can choose on the one which is quite harmless. If you are asked about your weaknesses in single words, you should be able to select in such manner.

Weakness question
Majority of interviewers ask what are your weaknesses. What they are actually looking out for is your self awareness, whether you know your limitations and you are aware of how to curtail the negative outcome of your weaknesses. However, if you make use of words like may be, usually and probably, it creates a negative impression as it appears to be an unsure statement. Eventually, the question 'is writing your weaknesses right or wrong' rises in your mind.

How to present
Weaknesses can be your strengths if presented rightly and the only way to present it is to stick on the optimistic aspect, while minimizing the negative. Your weakness should appear as a problem that is nearly solved instead of hopeless attribute which is helpless. For example, assume your greatest weakness is that your motivational skills are not excellent but a possible positive answer could be that motivation is something you are not naturally good at and because of it you take extra efforts to encourage others. Consequently, your weakness becomes your strength. Many people believe that by telling their flaws that make them sound fine and will avoid answering the question sincerely, which is actually true.

Hiding weaknesses
Hiding weakness doesn't mean that you bury your weaknesses completely. These can hide behind your strengths. For example, if you are new to the work field, you should try showing your qualifications and relevant interests, in case you are not qualified, you have to highlight your job experience. Be open for suggestions from friends or experienced professional about how you can present your weaknesses in a right manner.

Hence is writing your weakness right or wrong is no more a dilemma. You simply need to be extra vigilant and elegant to put forth your weaknesses. It cannot be ignored and even if you try to do so, while the work journey you come across your weaknesses through feedbacks and so sooner or later you need to work on them.
