A boom operator works in the media industry. He ensures accuracy in the setting up and maintaining of the technical network required for ensuring effective sound recording. The job title is derived from the boom microphone, which can be held in hand or moved around on a platform. The jobholder is responsible to place the microphone at appropriate locations, such that it does not disturb the actor or cause any hindrance during sound recording.
