A Railcar repairer is a highly knowledgeable person who performs a variety of functions required to provide a safe, comfortable and enjoyable travel time to passengers. Being a repairer, his chief responsibility is to analyze the operations, identify areas of malfunction and correct the defects. A railcar repairer performs repairing functions for the interiors or exteriors of the railcar. He paints the interiors of the railcar, fixes up seats and upholstery and installs/repairs the lights and fans within every coach of the railcar. He repairs braking system, inspects bearing and wheels to ensure smooth movement of the railcar.

The railcare repair technician must have thorough knowledge about mechanical and electronics engineering. The person must possess manual dexterity and an excellent vision to be able to maintain accurate detailing while performing minute repair work.
