Creative Interview Questions

There are simple interview questions. There are technical interview questions. There are intriguing interview question. And then there are creative interview questions. Interviewers today believe in testing an individual from all aspects rather than just testing their expertise in the domain they have applied for a job in. As a candidate, you are free to choose the path of ignorance and weaken your chances of selection or opt to learn these questions and answers in order to strengthen your position.

A creative interview question can be as simple as "Which is your favorite animal?" to a more complicated one like "Do you believe in reincarnation?". Whatever the question may be, do not think that the employer is just asking it to ignite a light of casualness in the formal ambiance.

He/she is there to test you on different parameters; a job he/her has been doing for a while and is pretty much skilled in it. To him/her, you are just another job seeker and unless you put an impression that helps him/her recall you as one highly efficient, creative, and a multitalented individual, he/she won't give a thought to you.

For you to represent yourself as a versatile candidate, we have provided a few creative questions an employer may ask while interviewing you. Answers to these question are given along, but you are free to devise your own answers or manipulate the ones we have given according to your creative zing.

  1. What is your perception of a glass that appears to be half full?

Answer: The best way to answer this question is to describe the glass as neither half full, nor half empty. You need to tell that this glass represents balance. It is a symbol of the balance that exists in every walk of life. It can represent the income and expenses of an organization, the assets and the liabilities, etc. It represents the balance between the good and the evil. It is a motif that is applicable to humans as well. This answer will establish your identity as being a balanced individual.

  2. Which rainbow color inspires you the most?

Answer: Every color symbolizes something. Red represents energy, passion, love, aggression, violence, and all intense emotions, either positive or negative. On the other hand, white symbolizes purity, peace, sterility, etc. Pick one color that represents your personality and traits and accordingly relate yourself to it when the employer asks this question.

  3. If you have to choose between one hobby as your profession, what would you choose?

Answer: Answer this question with a hobby you follow with passion, and not just to kill time. This answer will raise more questions and hence it is necessary for you to possess in-depth knowledge of a particular hobby from all perspectives.

  4. If you are given a chance to alter the specifications or designs of one of our products, what that would be and why?

Answer: This question will help you to demonstrate your creativity and technical expertise. Choose one product or service and provide suggestions that sound feasible and allow the employer to think over it. Do not present any opinion without thinking it from the perspective of the end users.

  5. Do you think that the traffic cops are doing their job well? How would you like to reform the work culture of the cops?

Answer: Though this may sound as a random question, it will actually test your observation and analytical skills. Do not give random opinions. If you never had the time or interest to notice the traffic behavior in the city streets, simply accept your ignorance as the employer may find another question to test the skills he wants to.

  6. When was the last time you did something adventurous? Did you enjoy it?

Answer: The employer is not interested in the adventure sports. He/she is only interested to know whether you are open enough to take up new challenges and venture into unexplored fields. If you did bungee jumping, river rafting, paragliding, or even went for a long ride on an unknown road, tell it to the interviewer. Tell him/her that you enjoyed it and you would like to explore many such activities that carry an element of adventure.

  7. How would you like to be reborn?

Answer: This question is to test whether or not you are content with your life and your inner self. Tell the employer that you would like to reincarnate the way you are. You can also add that you would like to change or eliminate some personality traits.

The creative interview questions provided above are just an illustration to show how the employer can go off the track and test your personality and thought process with questions you might not think of while preparing for an interview.
