  1. What is domain name? What is DNS?

    Answer: Domain name is the name of a website that gives it a unique identity. In simpler terms, it is the address (website link) that you type in the browser's bar to search for a particular product, company, or information. DNS is the domain name server. It records the names of all domain names and acts like a directory for the internet.

  2. Enlist the properties of DNS server.

    Answer: The different properties of DNS server are interface, advances, forwards, routing, logging, security, and debug

  3. Define Scavenging.

    Answer: Scavenging refers to the function of finding and deleting unwanted information.

  4. Which are the tools that are commonly used for troubleshooting DNS?

    Answer: The tools that are commonly used for troubleshooting DNS are DNS Console, Logs, PM, DNSCmd, etc.

  5. What is Name Server?

    Answer: Name server is a storehouse of information that saves data required for translating domain names into IP and vice versa. It is a program that translates information at the request of the user or another server.

  6. What do you understand from the term primary name server and secondary name server?

    Answer: Primary name server is the authoritative server which is the main source of information for the zone. It is called master server too. Secondary name server gathers information about their zones by copying it from the primary name server.

  7. What should I do if I misspell my domain name?

    Answer: A gTLD (generic top level domains) may be altered up to the period of 48 hours. Once the registration period gets completed, it is not possible to alter the domain name. There is one alternative to this problem. Register the correct domain name first and forward the incorrect spelling domain name to the correct one. In this way, the reader gets directed to the same site, no matter what spelling he uses

  8. What does BIND stands for?

    Answer: BIND stands for Berkeley Internet Name Domain. It is widely used DNS server on internet.

  9. Can you explain round robin DNS?

    Answer: Round robin DNS refers to the movement of traffic of viewers from one server to another. It is useful in balancing the traffic load of web servers distributed over vast geographical areas. Let us suppose there is one domain name for three IP address on three servers. The first user gets directed to the first IP address. Similarly, the second user moves to the second IP address and the third user to the third IP address. The fourth user is directed back to the first IP address. This series is known as round robin DNS.

  10. What are SRV? Name the types of SRV.

    Answer: SRV are service records that define the location of a server in the DN system. The typical format for the service record is service_proto_name_TTL_class_priorioty_weight_port_target

    The various types of service records are TCP (Global catalog and LDAP information), UDP (site information), Domain DNS Zone (domain specific information) and Forest DNS Zone (forest specific information).

  11. What is domain parking?

    Answer: Domain parking is nothing but reserving a place on the internet for further development. It is devoid of any associated emails or websites.

  12. What are domain name restrictions?

    Answer: Domain name restrictions refer to the set rules that decide the name of a domain. It may include any of the alphabets (a-z) or numbers (0-9) or hyphen (-). However, it cannot have any special characters like (^ % $ & # *) or begin with a hyphen. A domain name can include up to 67 characters. It could be long or short as required. It is preferred that your business name and website name are same.
