Freelance Writer Cover Letter

Applying for the job of a freelance writer can be slightly different from looking for a job in the mortar and brick world. Some of the clients will take some time to shortlist and conduct the interviews, but most of the employees will depend on the information that is provided in your cover letter and resume to come up with a decision whether they will hire you or not.

Always remember that you will only get one chance to sell yourself to the prospective employer, so you will have to take extra care while composing a cover letter. Take some more time to tell the reader about your experience, which is related to the advertisement you are responding to or what all specific tasks you are planning to undertake if you are going to get that job.

If you simply tell the client that you have written about some widgets, he/she will have no clue what that is supposed to mean. You will always have to be specific about your level of experience, it will give the client more information on what basis he/she needs to make a decision. If there is a situation, where you don't have the required years of experience, then you will have to focus on what you will be bringing to the organization. Can you meet deadlines? Are you reliable? Can you take the right direction? Share these positive things with the client.

You will have to give your cover letter, samples and resume one last look before you send them to the employer. Also, ask yourself if your letter has enough information so that the client can make a positive decision about you. If you think, that you have not added enough information, then add few more things to present yourself in an effective manner.

Dear Ms. Hyatt,

Please accept my application for the position of a Freelance Writer with Love & Peace as it was advertised in www.seek.com.

I am a very passionate writer with four years of experience in this field, writing for various online and print media, both here and overseas. For the past one year, I have been working as a freelance copywriter and writer gaining experience of writing in different formats and styles for different target audiences. I have mostly written for topics like events, general news, music and fashion.

Working as a freelance writer I have learnt to use all my initiatives for sourcing contacts and projects. Freelancing taught me how to have extremely good multi-tasking and organizational skills for successfully managing deadlines, and handling multiple assignments. My excellent time management and focus skill always enables me to work on independent basis without any kind of distraction.

I have got abundance experience taking and sourcing accompanying images for various articles, along with some video and audio files required for online platforms. Managing blogs and working for online media, I have enough HTML knowledge as well as complete understanding of the Web Content Management Systems.

In my previous employment industry, I have helped sub-editors and editors for fact checking, with my skills of attention to detail and good command over grammar and syntax. I also run my own music blog, which fuels my passion for all the music genres, especially for folk music. I know that an opportunity to work with Love & Peace will allow me to share my passion with larger audience.

You can find my attached resume with this letter along with samples of my published work. I look forward to meeting you in person for discussing this opportunity further.

Sincerely,
Victoria Johnson
