Translator Interpreter Cover Letter

Business of any kind is not confined to a particular territory only. In order to success in a venture, it has to be taken on a greater platform crossing several miles and ocean. Starting a multi-national project is what all businesses aspire today. However, not all are linguist or familiar with different languages. For this reason, the need of translator and interpreters are necessary for verbal and written communication. Translators and interpreters help in bridging the gap between two and more cultures and help in streamlining transactions.

Translators are someone who translate written documents from one language to another. Their bilingual skills are used in transferring technical documents, plays, novels, news articles, personal letters, etc. in different languages in the same manner as it is conceptualized originally. Interpreters, on the other hand, takes the spoken words of the speaker and translate to the listeners in language understood to them. They also have to convert verbal communication into sign language for hearing impaired.

Re: Application for the position of translator and interpreter

Dear Mr. Harris,

I am writing this cover letter for the position of translator and interpreter as advertised on your company website. Since I stayed in Germany for seven years during the work tenure of my father, I am comfortable in reading, writing and speaking this language. I even have a bachelor’s degree in German language from New York University. I am elated for knowing a vacancy for this position and can hardly wait to start working with you.

I was always interested in learning different languages and cultures right from my childhood. I got lucky to travel a lot during my college days being a member of a team that visits countries as a part of culture-exchange program. I was lucky to visit France where I stayed for six months and get to know their culture and dialect. Being impressed with the French culture, I even pursued a degree course in this language and excelled in it.

Presently, I am working with a multi-national company that sells software to different countries. My Job involves translating the features of software and help menu in German language. All the technical documents relating to the product has been translated by me. I am also participating in conferences and meetings to help out German clients in understanding the spoken and content meeting.

I have also done a certification course in sign language interpretation. I am skilled in translating spoken words into sing language from English to German and German to English. Being an American, I am very good in written and spoken English. Working with your company has been my long-time wish, and I am happy that the time has come to make it true.

You can be rest assured about my sincerity, punctuality and dedication. I can provide references of people that can vouch for me. I am confident of meeting all the requirements and performing to the best of my capabilities. My passion for language translation and interpretation will help me excel in this position. Martin Watson
