Front Desk Receptionist Cover Letter

A receptionist is a person who is seated at the front desk or the reception area of an organization. This person needs to be friendly, professional and personable since this is the first person that people or clients will interact with. Ability to manage and organize data with good efficiency is very important for this profession.

The duties of the receptionist will vary depending on the establishment he or she works in. However, they are usually responsible for greeting clients or customers, entering information, preparing documents and scheduling appointments. Sometimes they have to perform administrative duties like sorting and checking e-mails and perform some basic tasks with word processor. Depending on the kind of position, they will also have to manage and create records using computer software.

Even in the organizations where voice mail is used, receptionists have to answer and route the phone calls as well as check the messages. Front desk receptionists are also responsible for giving information about the organization to public or route the customer's information to the proper person. The requirements for the position are a high school diploma or any other equivalent qualification. Any other training in this field is usually given at the organization they work for. However, if an individual has an associate's degree with sound knowledge about computer software, then this will give an edge to the individual.

To advertise your qualifications to the employer you will also need a strong cover letter. A cover letter should be not more than a page. Make three paragraphs, first one describing where you came across this job. The second paragraph should talk about your skills and qualifications. The last paragraph should ask for an interview and have your contact details. If you are still unclear on what you need to write then, here is a sample front desk receptionist cover letter.
