Host Cover Letter

A host is a restaurant employee who has to serve the responsibility of a customer service and public relations officer. There are no specific educational requirements for this profession, but having a pleasant personality and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment are must in this profession. The first person that a customer encounters when he or she enters a restaurant is the host, so they will always have to make a favorable impression. They will have to gain all the required information about the customers seating choice, and then verify with the reservations if required.

The host will have to escort the customers towards their table once it is available and give them the menus. If there is waiting for their desired table, the host will have to inform the customers as to how much will it take for the customers to get their table. Once the customers are seated, they will have to read out the daily specials to the customers and fill their glasses with water before the server comes to take their orders. In some of the restaurants, the host will have to answer phone calls from customers who wish to make a reservation.

Host will also have to give information about the inquiries that are made regarding the operational hours of the restaurant. If there are any large parties or meetings happening in the restaurant, then the host will have to arrange for the same. In addition, they have to deal with the final sales transaction when the customers are set to checkout. They will accept the payment from the customers, and ensure that they are satisfied with their dining experience. They have to take care of most of things that happen in the restaurant.
