Hotel housekeepers have the most important task of making sure that the entire establishment is clean, sanitized and neat for guests. They will always be assigned with various tasks, which include cleaning guest rooms, hallways, elevators and lobbies and some of the other hotel facilities like salon, conference rooms and gym. Hotel housekeepers will always be holding carts, which contains all their equipment and supplies. If they are running low on any product, then they immediately have to restock the same.

Some of the major tasks are making the guests bed, shampooing and vacuuming the rugs, changing linens, drapes or curtains and furniture as well. Moreover, they also have to clean windows, bathroom's walls, floors, ceilings, and they will have to clean the ashtrays and wastebaskets from time to time.

Hotel housekeepers have to replenish all the things inside the room, which includes pens, napkins, paper, silverware, shampoos, toilet paper, soaps, drinking cups, blankets and towels. Most of the rooms will offer refrigerators that are filled with snacks and drinks. In such situations, the housekeeper will have to keep the inventory for drinks and food the guests used, and then keep restocking the refrigerator as and when required.

Depending on the area the housekeeper is assigned to work in, duties can also include of setting the room for some function meetings, place settings, arranging decorations, equipment and furniture. At some of the hotels, they will be asked to look after the pets of the guest for making sure that the pet is properly fed, groomed and taken for a walk. Before a guest checks out, the housekeeper will have to go inside the room along with an inspection checklist for making sure that there has been no damage done to the hotel property.
