Purchasing agents ensure that the materials needed for the functioning of the company are adequately stocked. This is a responsible job for any shortage or deficiency of resources may hamper the production, which in turn affects the sale and revenue of the company. The purchasing agents have to find vendors and suppliers and invite quotation for materials and services. They have to maintain a database of all the vendors and suppliers as well as compare prices. The person must also have the knowledge about different prices prevailing in the market, and the ability to inspect and check the quality of goods received. Furthermore, ability to coordinate with the purchase team and the production department is also necessary.
