A pharmacist technician is the person who helps the main pharmacist in preparing the prescriptions, filling the client's requests, and other similar things. Most pharmacists want their technicians to have some training done after they are being hired and it can last up to a full year.

Besides the education, if you want to become a pharmacy technician, you should posses the required skills and abilities. You have to have strong communication skills, work well with people, and be able to do things exactly as you are told. You need to be organized, clear.. Because you need to prepare medicines, you need to be able to pay a lot of attention to details.

Pharmacy technicians should be very knowledgeable about the medicine and products they have in stock in the pharmacy. They need to be able to give all the requested information to the clients who ask for it. Sometimes, people also need medical advice. Of course, you will not replace a doctor, but you need to be able to give this medical advice to the best of your abilities. Pay attention to every person's condition and symptoms, and act accordingly. In your interaction with the clients, you must be understanding and compassionate.

Most pharmacies expect their technicians to have some previous working experience. However one can always start as a trainee technician. This provides you with the needed experience, even if you do not get paid, and then you can get hired at a pharmacy.

One of your responsibilities as a pharmacy technician will be to keep clients records, to see what medicine they needed and when. This is the case especially for prescribed medicine. You have to be careful, organized and immaculate with reports.
