Software Jobs

The software jobs involve working in the ever growing IT (Information Technology) industry. The software (or computer software) represents any program that helps us operate the machines called computers. The software is usually created, developed and distributed by a person (company) and used, installed by a user (person or company).

The creation and development of a software is usually done by a single person, or by a team, and its distribution is either being done by the person (team) as freeware: application for which you do not need to pay, a short form of free software - either by a specialized shop, meaning you pay for the installation kit and a key (code, password) which will enable you to use the complete features of the program for the longest period of time.

The software can be:

An operating system: Any version of Microsoft Windows -paid ware-, or any version of Linux -some are free of charge, some require a small fee- or others. Its purpose is to make the machine function; without it, we cannot have anything else installed.

Programming software: Some tools that help those in the IT industry to write and develop new programs.

Application software: Created with a certain purpose to help everybody no matter the industry they function in; databases, the office suite (either a paid one a free of charge one)

So most of the jobs in the software field involve a programmer. These are highly skilled and trained people, who can write a program, test it, create its look, its functions, and then either maintain or improve it. They are also required to fix bugs (any feature that is not functioning correctly is a bug) or to maintain software written by other programmers.

Usually, they work in a team so at times the tasks are split, but the final product must come together as created by a single person. They also have the task to check the compatibility between the program and the machine it would go on, and how it will interact with other applications (programs).

These professionals must always keep updates with the trends, must always train in using applications released by other companies (either similar, or different). They are requested to be available to offer support or to train others, or release the proper documentation for support.

The users however, see things a bit different than the programmers. At times, out of passion, they start writing their own version of the software, like it happens with Linux.

There are also those writing and creating video games. Those professionals need to have a lot of talent, and they need users to play the games released in order to make sure the application is easy to use, has a clear image, that the computer can still function even with more programs loaded (installed), and that the game itself is catchy. Usually, these software testers are also paid for their work, because they need to pay a lot of attention to several minute details.
